Gigs - I Am Kloot - The Lowry, Salford

Star rating – 9/10

Even in the slightly too formal setting of The Lowry, this was much more of a glorious homecoming for the IAK boys than their last Manchester gig at the cathedral in December. They seemed happy and relaxed to be playing to a home crowd, and treated them to the highlights from ‘The Sky At Night’ as well as old favourites like ‘Twist’ and ‘Ferris Wheels’.

John Bramwell seemed amused by the red demonic lights, which were a little unusual for the Kloot, and the strips of multi coloured lighting across the back of the stage really made ‘Radiation’ a stand out number. Every time I see IAK I am struck by the brilliance of Bramwell’s lyrics, and the ease with which they accompany each other on stage. Accompanied as is now their norm by a string section, brass and keyboards, it was another lively, lovely night. They really do deserve a bigger following, but the loyal fans they have turned out in force to enjoy this great night.

Simply my favourite band of the last decade.
